1988 - Present:
Folk Land Management,
Inc.; Owner and President. This company specializes in
combined forestry and wildlife management to achieve
landowners' objectives for aesthetics, recreation and
timber production.
1985 - 1988: Hurlbutt, Waldrop & Folk,
Inc.; Partner, Forester and Wildlife Biologist. Joining
this forestry firm expanded its services to include
wildlife management and land use planning for outdoor
recreation.
1975
- 1985: South Carolina Wildlife and Marine Resources
Department; Assistant District Wildlife Biologist. Working
in a seven county area in the Lowcountry of South
Carolina, the primary responsibilities as a district
biologist included providing technical assistance to
landowners in managing habitat for game and non-game
species, coordination of timber and wildlife objectives,
and facilitating recreational use of the land.
1975 - 1980: South Carolina Wildlife and
Marine Resources Department; Project Leader, Bear Island
Wildlife Management Area. Upland wildlife species and
waterfowl were intensively managed on this state-owned
management area. In addition to implementation
responsibilities, public hunts for ducks, deer, dove,
quail and rabbits were held and field trips for various
nature oriented groups were conducted.

2007 - 2011: Adjunct Professor, University of South Carolina � Salkehatchie. Teach Biology 110 lecture and laboratory. Course is intended for students seeking degrees not in the sciences.
2006 - Present: Biologist, Folk Land Management, Inc. Responsible for wetland permitting, GIS development and analysis, develop research projects, wildlife management planning and implementation for various agencies.
2001 - 2006: Graduate Research Assistant, Alabama Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit, Auburn University. Responsible for design, implementation, and analysis of 3-year research project on population biology of northern bobwhites. Hired and coordinated nine field research technicians. Prepared research reports for funding and cooperating agencies and organizations. Produced technical and popular press research publications. Gave numerous talks to civic and sportsman groups concerning use of prescribed fire for land and game management in the Southeast.
2000 - 2001: Graduate Research Assistant, School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences, Auburn University. Same responsibilities as 1998-2000 GRA position. Academic reorganization at Auburn University responsible for project relocation. Prepared final research reports for funding and cooperating agencies.
1998 - 2000: Graduate Research Assistant, Department of Zoology and Wildlife Sciences, College of Science and Mathematics, Auburn University. Responsible for design, implementation, and analysis of 2-year research project on reproductive ecology of wood ducks. Conducted avian surgeries for transmitter implantation, and conducted ground and aerial radio-telemetry monitoring. Hired and coordinated two field research technicians. Produced technical research publications.
1997 - 1998: Student Worker, Whitehall Deer Research Facility, D. B. Warnell School of Forest Resources, University of Georgia. Responsible for daily care of 60-100 captive white-tailed deer and maintenance of research facility. Responsible for minor medical care of captive white-tailed deer.
